Spinous Process Clamp

An alternative to pedicle screw fixation is the spinous process clamp, shown here.

The spinous processes are the parts of a vertebral bone that protrude backward, the bumps you can feel down the center of your spine.

By grabbing the spinous processes, the vertebra can be stabilized, prevented from moving.
